Department Overview PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages
and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in
the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located
mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including
the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68
powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of
tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of
watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Position Summary This
is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local
1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of
experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject
to collective bargaining. A Water System Repairperson will engage
in the construction, and repairs of all types of Hydro water system
structures and related facilities and equipment, including water
collection and domestic water systems. Such employees will drive
trucks and operate mechanical equipment such as Sno-Cat, tractor
grader, backhoe, loaders, excavators and all equipment for general
hauling, bulldozing, road maintenance, excavation and other similar
work. • This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation)
covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol
screening. Offers for this position will be contingent upon review
and approval by the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC)
and completing a welding assessment PG&E is providing the
hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might
pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This
compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The
actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple
factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education,
licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic
location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the
starting hourly rate range for this position is $64.43 to $72.42,
subject to collectively bargained wage increases.?
Responsibilities: Conduct visual and mechanical inspections of
dams, penstocks, canals, tunnels, ditches, flumes and other related
water systems for powerhouse and facilities. Perform necessary
repairs as needed or directed. Operate equipment such as snow-cat,
tractor-grader, backhoe, loaders and excavators in order to make
repairs. Perform welding, carpentry and/or concrete work. May use
rigging/fall protection to climb up and down structures May perform
rescue and first-responder duties for road maintenance and all
types of water damage. May be assigned other work of similar nature
as the occasion requires, including building maintenance of hydro
facilities, inspections of tunnels or other confined spaces. Safely
operate company vehicles and equipment Qualifications Minimum
Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age Must possess a
High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience Must possess
a valid California Class A Driver's Permit by Day 1 of hire Must
have passed California DMV medical exam by day 1 of hire Passed an
Apprenticeship Program Must be able to work with and/or around
bodies of water Must be able to work with and/or around helicopters
Ability to work in all types of weather extremes Ability to drive
safely in all weather and road conditions Ability to work extended
hours, nights, weekends and holidays Ability to lift 75 pounds or
more Ability to work in remote areas by yourself at times Must be
able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Desired Qualifications: 10 years work experience in a water system
environment (Powerhouses and water system facilities) 10 years of
experience with all types of hand power tools 5 years of welding
experience in arc, TIG, MIG, etc. 5 years of experience in the
operation of mechanized equipment associated with this work 5 years
of concrete forming and placement 5 years of carpentry experience 5
years of plumbing/pipefitting with steel and PVC 5 years of
operating heavy machinery such as snow-cat, tractor-grader,
backhoe, loaders and excavators in order to make repairs. 1 years
of operating snow removal equipment Demonstrated knowledge of safe
rigging practices Pre-Employment Testing PG&E Employees: You

Work Orientation Inventory-Physical/Technical Driving (WOI) BALCH
CAMP Resident employees: All employees regularly headquartered at
Balch shall be considered Balch classifications (Attachment A) will
be required to reside at permanent Company residences adjacent to
Balch. If permanent housing is not available, Temp housing will be
provided per a separate agreement (similar to LA 24-17 at Helms).
Employees in permanent housing to reside in the residence during
their regularly scheduled workweek. Such employees shall be trained
to acquire the knowledge and capability of performing normal and
emergency operating functions at Balch. Non-shift employees may be
assigned to a shift schedule in accordance with the provisions of
Section 202.17 of the Physical Agreement due to irregular water or
plant conditions. Employees may be required to ride in a
helicopter. Employees will be compensated in the same rate and
manner as employees described in LA 22-33. a. Company owned
permanent Housing (Balch) will be governed by a rental agreement
signed by the employee. The established rent is currently $ 50.00
per month and employees will have the option to sign a written
authorization to have rent automatically deducted from the
employee’s check. Said rent will continue until the employee
vacates Company Housing. The rental agreement shall stay in place
while the employee resides in the permanent house. At such time, as
the employee is no longer holding a regular status Balch position,
they will be required to vacate Company Housing within 30 days of
termination of employment at Balch (including bidding out). This
amount is subject to change by agreement between the parties b. The
residences will be equipped with telephones, provided by the local
telephone company restricted one plus dialing lines for each
residence. All utilities (including Generac) will be supplied and
covered by the Company. The utilities are: Electric, propane,
water, sewer, trash, telephone. All major appliances will be
supplied, maintained, and replaced by the Company (Refrigerator,
Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, Range/Oven, Microwave, Water Heater, etc.
The residences will be equipped to receive TV broadcasts.
3.Emergency Transportation:911 will be utilized for emergency
response; employees can initiate 911 on their own or can request
through Company operations. 4.Supplemental workforce
classifications. Any additional support classifications required to
enhance the existing workforce (example: outage support,
intermittent employees, Hiring Hall, Temporary Additional (TAs)
will be addressed in a Balch supplemental workforce agreement.
5.Company Provided Vehicles: All Employees with a Company provided
vehicle will be required to adhere to transportation standard
1017S. 6.Balch Oversite committee (2 Union, 2 Company): Committee
will meet once per month and/or as needed (either side may request)
to ensure this agreement is being followed, document all issues,
take action on those issues, and attend to all issues including
Permanent and Temp housing employees’ needs and concerns. The
grievance process will be placed on hold during this process to
allow the committee to attend to issues. If the Committee cannot
agree on a resolution, the grievance process will be enacted
(grievance filed) within 30-days of the date the committee agrees
to disagree on an issue.
