Collects, and/or processes specimens for all patient ages
including, but not limited to blood, urine, fece sputum,
pathological specimens, cultures from wounds, and semen. Performs
phlebotomy and EKG's on patients aged newborn through geriatric, in
all units of the Hospital including but not limited to: Intensive
Care, Nursery, Emergency, and Medical/Surgical. Enters patient
demographics and laboratory information into the laboratory
computer system.May participate in gathering of Quality Assurance
Data. May perform some laboratory testing under the direct
supervision of a licensed Clinical Lab Scientist. Position role and
responsibilities are performed consistent with the California
Phlebotomy Regulations. Prefer graduate of high school or GED with
additional education courses. Three (3) year previous phlebotomy
experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
Ability to perform venipuncture, skin puncture and EKGs. Ability to
handle medical specimens and conform to Universal Infection Control
Procedures. National Phlebotomy Certification from and agency
recognized by the California Department of Health Services,
Laboratory Field Services, in compliance with the Migden Bill, AB
1157 of 1999.Current State of California Phlebotomist License.
Current CA DMV license and auto insurance; clean DMV record.
Current American Heart Association BCLS certificate.
