Security Officer - Security - Per Diem

SUMMARY: This position is accountable for maintaining all Security Department and VCH policies, standard operating procedures, and protocols. The incumbent will maintain a safe and secure environment for all employees, physicians, patients, visitors, and contractors/vendors on VCH property by being prepared for emergency situations and responding to all incidents and emergency situations properly. This position assists in visitor identification and health screening upon hospital entry, the effective operation of video surveillance equipment to aid in the protection of VCH property and assets, ensures the safety and visitor entry of the Emergency Department at all times, and detects and reports the existence of safety hazard.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires: A) High SchoolDiploma/GED, B) a valid California Bureau of Security and InvestigativeServices-BSIS Guard Card (GUARD). For candidates with a POST certificate, aBSIS Guard Card must be obtained within 90 days of hire. C) Baton Permit(BATON PERM) within 60 days of hire. D) Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationwithin 30 days of hire. E) CDL - California Drivers License withacceptable driving record. F) A minimum of six (6) months experience inthe security field, Honorably Discharged military veteran, graduate of anaccredited security related program (i.e. Police Academy, criminal justiceprogram), or completion of a security focused certification program. Aminimum one (1) year related experience preferred. Previous security experiencein healthcare or hospital environment preferred. G) Availability to workany assigned shift. Must be able to read, write legibly, understand, andfollow verbal and written English instruction. Possess good communicationand customer service skills. Must be able to effectively communicate andinteract with Security peers, Hospital employees, physicians, the public, andlocal law enforcement (as applicable). Must be able to workcollaboratively with a team and independently using sound judgement and commonsense. Familiarity with computer and Microsoft Office program(specifically Word documents). Bilingual Skills preferred

POSITION DETAILS: Per Diem Position. Three shift coverage options: Day 0545-1415, Evening 1345-2215, Night 2145-0615 - overtime shifts as needed.

PAY RANGE: $18.70 - $27.10
