Title:Grower ConsultantReports to:Director of Grower ConsultingClassification:ExemptPosition Summary:The Grower Consultant position is responsible for actively selling the Companys products and services to new customers as well as increasing sales with existing customers. This role works closely with grower advisors to ensure the successful relationship of the Company with its customers. A successful customer relationship is defined as a satisfied, even delighted customer, with which the Company has maximized its sales potential with maximum company efficiency. The Grower Consultant is the main point of contact with the customer, and must bridge the role of the Grower Advisor, the Field Service Technician(s), the laboratory, plant operations and accounting to ensure the customers needs are met, while maintaining the Companys directives.Essential Duties:Effectively prospects and acquires new customers that align with the Companys crop growing philosophy, consistently meeting or exceeding targets for cold calls, face to face meetings, proposals generated, and closed revenue.Effectively develops and delivers sales presentations resulting in closed sales.Actively participates in sales forecasting and planning, as well as developing new products, modification of existing products, and termination of obsolete products.Maintains a strong knowledge of all the Companys programs, products, and capabilities including preventative water treatment, food safety water treatment, surface water treatment, continuous fertigation, customer-applied fertigation, tissue and soil sampling services, and laboratory support services.Communicates professionally, effectively and efficiently (face-to-face, texts, phone calls, emails) with your customers on the appropriate level of frequency as defined by management to maximize the customer relationship.Schedules, organizes and executes Company product presentations to new and existing customers on potential applications in a professional and timely manner Following approved Company formats..Maximizes the sales potential of each existing customer by following up on leads from customers and recognizing opportunities for the Company.Researches and identifies new sales opportunities for the Company in California and Arizona, or in other geographical areas as assigned by management, proactively pursuing sales opportunities.Strong knowledge of California and Arizona agricultural practices as they pertain to your current and prospective customer accounts and their crops, including expertise in water and soil quality, and plant nutrition. Based on your experience and knowledge, make recommendations to Company management on changes / improvements to Company programs, products, performance guidelines (e.g. tissue ranges, program dosage recommendations, formulations and delivery systems).Effectively builds and maintains strong business relationships with customers. Know your customer well: all facets of their operation which relate to Companys business: the customers personnel at all levels that are central to the decision-making process; all aspects of growing operations (crops, acreage, practices, irrigation, tissue, soil, and water quality, production yields, goals).Participate in the guarantee the Company makes to its customers on program performance by periodic review of that performance via internal reports and working with field operations to correct deficiencies (investigate problems, develop solutions, and provide follow-up service).Supply Company management with regular reports on all phases of your customer interaction including customer needs/opportunities, proposals, program updates, business reviews, YTD sales, problems, and solutions.Stays involved with relevant industry organizations, trade associations, and attends industry events as appropriate and/or directed. Make recommendations for Companys participation in relevant industry events based on your own research. Make recommendations for and participate in the development of literature, promotions, trade exhibits, print media, etc. to promote Company programs, products andsales.Effectively uses CRM system, keeping accurate record of all phases of your customer interactionsEffectively performs special assignments and projects as requested by management.Organizational AccountabilitiesMission:Shares in and displays passion and commitment to our mission of providing solution-based fertilizer and chemical programs and service to our customers for the purpose of maximizing their crop production.Leadership:Displays leadership in all aspects of performance as a member of the team, so as to enhance the morale of company employees and support company objectives and policies. Shows growth as a professional through continuous improvement; participates in safety training and leads by example in following DPR and OSHA standards and other state and federal regulations.Minimum QualificationsEducation:B.S. Ag Business, Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Nutrition or equivalent. PCA, CCA, and QAL preferred.Experience:3 to 5 years of sales experience in the Ag industry preferred, technical understanding of plant nutrition is preferred.Skills:Excellent verbal communication skills; Proficiency in computer processing functions and other standard office equipment; ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks; Ability to read, comprehend reports and analyze data and explain clearly and concisely to others; Ability to calmly and professionally resolve issues with diplomacy and tact; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Strong organizational skillsPhysical Requirements:Visual acuity to read a computer screen and paper documents; close and distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception, ability to adjust focus; hearing acuity to converse with staff and customers in person and by phone;ability to walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and lift and move 10 pounds on a regular basis, up to 25 pounds frequently, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds; ability to sit for hours at a time, as well as drive for hours at a time.Working Conditions:This position functions in both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to a variety of work environments; which include outside weather conditions and exposure to machinery and equipment with moving parts. Employee may be subject to hazardous chemicals and chemical waste, with exposure to moderate noise levels.
